The main problem being all the verbose twitter professional type people that I actually don't know in real life... so what I do now is follow all those people with my public/professional twitter account, and actual friends with my private twitter account. In TweetDeck I set it up to show full notifications for friends on the private account but only summary notifications for everyone else that I follow on my public account.
